About

For some, photography is a part-time project; a hobby.  However, for Wood D (Woody), his work is a delicate tapestry encompassing his passion for photography, innate artistry, and love of "capturing moments”.  His multimedia background, creative visions, and gifted “eye” are his tools and the world is his canvas.  A Washington, D.C. native, Woody is primed and ready to showcase his talents to the world.

From an early age, it was apparent that creativity would be the driving force in his life. At the age of two, without any formal training, he drew an intricate portrait of a train on the dining room wall.  While his mother frowned upon his canvas choice, she was amazed by the sheer genius of his talent and invested heavily in his creative pursuits thereon.  Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he showed a natural ability in many artistic forms including arts & crafts, painting, drawing, weaving, and building model cars & airplanes.  His major of studies in High School was Arts & Humanities. However, it wasn’t until after he enrolled at the Chubb Institute that he found his true passion.  While pursuing a Multimedia Design degree, he instantly fell in love with graphics and photography, and has dedicated his life to that craft ever since.

Though only working as a professional photographer since 2011, Woody has already amassed a lengthy list of accolades.  His first photo-shoot was for Dreamer Model Management, and soon after the opportunities kept rolling in. He spent most of 2012 shooting with local models and artists building up his portfolio; and also shooting various events such as weddings, club parties, and fashion shows. A major highlight was shooting for DC and Baltimore Fashion Week. In the beginning of 2013, he put together his very 1st art presentation called the "Love Showcase", featuring images he captured in DC, NYC, and MD.  This eventually led to Woody becoming a RAWartists DC alumni.  He was then selected as a RAWartists DC “Director’s Highlight” at the 2013 RAWartists DC Awards Show. Also in 2013, one of his images was selected to run as a Health Awareness Campaign on billboards in the DC Metro area.

Woody's work has been highlighted on several websites, including fashioncitizen.com, bourgeononline.com, mrdreamzmag.com, the-sx.com, and faithfashionmovement.com.  He has also been a featured special guest on Style Speaks and The Styyle Chronicles.

With seemingly overnight success, Woody remains humbled and has vowed to pay homage to the greats that came before him by continually investing in and honing his craft.  He credits photographers Gilles Bensimon, Lindsay Adler, and painter Leonardo da Vinci as other artists he admires.  His mother and late father are his inspirations for why he continues to pursue his dreams.

Woody is currently working as a Photographer for Classic Photography in Hanover, MD and still continues to freelance shooting for models, actors, and whomever else needing that moment captured; as well weddings and other high profile events.  A man of many talents, with charisma and integrity unparalleled, Woody’s motto in life is a simple one, "Live.Love.Life".
